Balochistan govt tightens security ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr

QUETTA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Mar, 2026) The Balochistan provincial government has announced stringent security measures to ensure public safety during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr holidays, pledging zero tolerance for any lapses in law and order.

The announcement came during a law and order meeting chaired by Provincial Interior Minister Mir Ziaullah Langau in Quetta. Senior officials in attendance included Additional Chief Secretary for Home Affairs Hamza Shafqaat, Inspector General of Prisons Saeed Ahmed, Additional Inspector General Agha Yousaf, Deputy Inspector General Quetta, and DIG Counter Terrorism Department Aitzaz Goraya, along with other relevant officers.

Participants reviewed arrangements for Chand Raat and the days of Eid-ul-Fitr. Additional Chief Secretary for Home Affairs Hamza Shafqaat briefed the meeting on the current security landscape and preparedness plans.

Authorities finalized a special security strategy focusing on marketplaces during Chand Raat, Eid prayer grounds, Imambargahs and other public gathering points.

The plan aims to prevent untoward incidents and ensure a safe environment for citizens celebrating the festival.

Home Minister Langau praised the courage and professionalism of security forces in combating terrorism, noting that recent incidents had been thwarted due to their vigilance. He paid tribute to the sacrifices of personnel in the ongoing fight against terrorism.

“The provision of complete and foolproof security to citizens on Eid is the government’s foremost responsibility,” Langau said, adding that no negligence in security arrangements would be tolerated.

He highlighted the coordinated efforts of the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps (FC), and police in maintaining peace and directed all district administrations to strictly implement the approved security plans.

The meeting concluded with a firm resolve to maintain heightened alertness and seamless coordination among all security agencies during the festive period, ensuring citizens can celebrate Eid in peace and safety.
