QUETTA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Jun, 2026) The Balochistan government has imposed a 90-day ban on the transportation of timber and forest wood across the province in a decisive move to protect forest resources, curb illegal logging, and prevent smuggling.

According to the official notification issued by the Home Department, the ban covers all forms of wood, timber, logs, and other forest products, and is enforced under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898. The order takes immediate effect and applies to all districts of Balochistan.

Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat said that the measure was taken in the public interest and for the preservation of natural resources. He explained that the temporary restriction is necessary to prevent the illegal movement of forest produce and to ensure environmental protection and sustainable use of resources.

Under the directive, Deputy Commissioners, Assistant Commissioners, Police, Frontier Corps, and other law enforcement agencies have been empowered to stop, seize, and detain any vehicle, truck, or trailer found violating the ban.
