QUETTA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Feb, 2026) Balochistan Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan has reviewed the progress on key development projects across the province and stressed for timely completion.

The Chief Secretary presided over a high-level meeting directed relevant authorities to ensure strict monitoring and timely completion of all ongoing schemes.

He reiterated the provincial government’s commitment to public welfare and economic growth, noting that these projects would not only improve infrastructure and services but also transform the province’s socio-economic landscape.

Highlighting achievements in education, the Chief Secretary added that through the Balochistan Education Foundation, 1,663 new schools have been established, resulting in the enrollment of over 100,000 children. Enrollment figures are expected to rise further in March.

Officials reported that under the Balochistan Sustainable Development Initiative (BSDI), 229 projects have been completed, while work continues on 682 schemes.

Plans are also underway to construct two additional classrooms in 3,000 schools, with construction already initiated in four districts.

Authorities briefed the meeting on several priority projects slated for focused implementation this year, including provision of electricity to eight towns through solar energy systems, command area development projects, and the installation of fiber-optic internet connectivity at 1,149 locations in various schools and colleges.

In addition, authorities will prioritize the rollout of Safe City projects in urban centers, improvements in municipal services, the establishment of effective public grievance redressal mechanisms, the supply of clean drinking water, and broader urban development initiatives.

Concluding the session, Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan expressed confidence that the successful and timely completion of these projects would significantly enhance the quality of life for the people of Balochistan and contribute to the province’s long-term growth and stability.
