SIALKOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Jul, 2026) Under the project 'Catalysing Growth for Women Economic Empowerment in District Sialkot (Punjab), Pakistan," Baidarie, a non-governmental organisation, in collaboration with Women Workers’ Groups, organised an awareness-raising session on pro-women laws and policies in Khanoor, tehsil Pasrur, to promote legal awareness and women's socioeconomic empowerment.
The session was addressed by Project Manager Asif Raza, Principal of Madina Public school Imtiaz Ali, and Social Organizer Iqra Razzaq. The speakers highlighted the importance of legal awareness, social protection, and policy frameworks that support the economic participation and empowerment of women and other marginalized groups.
A large number of women, girls, youth, community members, and other stakeholders attended the session. Participants were informed about the fundamental human rights guaranteed under the Constitution of Pakistan (1973), the economic and social rights of women, girls, minorities, persons with disabilities, transgender persons, and the rights of informal workers, including Women Home-Based Workers (WHBWs).
<?php /*?> <?php */?>The speakers also discussed the Punjab Home-Based Workers Act, 2023, emphasizing its significance in protecting the rights of home-based workers. They stressed the importance of women's socioeconomic empowerment, their participation in mainstream economic activities, and the implementation of women protection laws in Punjab.
The session further highlighted grievance redress mechanisms for safeguarding the rights of women and vulnerable groups, along with referral services available in District Sialkot for survivors of gender-based violence, harassment, discrimination, and violations of economic and social rights.
Speaking on the occasion, the organizers reaffirmed Baidarie's commitment to promoting legal awareness, gender equality, and inclusive economic empowerment through community-based initiatives, enabling women and marginalized communities to better understand their rights and actively contribute to social and economic development.
