MIRPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Jul, 2026) Azad Jammu and Kashmir Police chief Captain (Retd.) Liaquat Ali Malik on Monday urged voters to cast their ballots without fear, saying security forces would use all available resources to ensure the Legislative Assembly elections were conducted in a peaceful, free and transparent manner.
Speaking to reporters during visits to polling stations across Mirpur Division, the inspector general of police appealed to citizens to exercise their democratic right to vote and participate fully in the electoral process.
Malik toured several polling stations during the first phase of the 2026 AJK Legislative Assembly elections to assess the law and order situation and review security arrangements.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>He was accompanied by Additional Inspector General of Police Muhammad Yasin Qureshi, Deputy Inspector General Kamran Ali and Senior Superintendent of Police Khurram Iqbal.
The police chief said the overall security situation in Mirpur Division was satisfactory and that polling was continuing peacefully without major disruption.
He said police personnel were performing their duties professionally to ensure the smooth conduct of the election.
Malik added that about 22,000 security personnel had been deployed across Mirpur Division for the elections and that authorities were responding swiftly to any reported incidents to maintain law and order.
