RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Jun, 2026) Awareness walks, seminars and training sessions were organized across the city on World Dengue Day to cognize citizens about preventive measures against the disease.
The activities were arranged by the Health Department in collaboration with local government institutions and medical centres as part of a comprehensive awareness campaign.
In Union Council Dhamiyaal R-85, an awareness walk was held with participation of local residents, while informational pamphlets were distributed among the public. Entomologist Sarfraz Ahmed briefed participants on preventing dengue mosquito breeding, maintaining cleanliness and eliminating stagnant water.
Similar activities were carried out in various areas of Bahria Town, including awareness sessions at Bahria International Hospital, public parks and other open spaces. Citizens were informed about preventive measures and symptoms of dengue virus through seminars and outreach efforts.
A special awareness session was also held at Spring North Hospital where medical experts highlighted symptoms, timely diagnosis, treatment and precautionary measures related to dengue fever.

Health officials said that awareness messages were also disseminated through social media platforms to reach a wider audience. Experts stressed avoiding accumulation of water in open containers, tyres and flower pots, particularly during the monsoon season, as these serve as breeding grounds for dengue mosquitoes.
The awareness campaign in Bahria Town Phase 7 and 8 was supervised by GM Ejaz Qureshi and Entomologist Mudassir Abbas, while Town Entomologist Muhammad Osama Izhar briefed about various activities.
Participants resolved to continue collective efforts to eliminate dengue and further strengthen public awareness.
Speakers reiterated that dengue prevention was not only the responsibility of government institutions but a collective national duty requiring active public participation.
