FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Jun, 2026) Speakers at an awareness walk, organised in connection with the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, called for collective efforts to eliminate narcotics from society.
They said that drug addiction poses a grave threat to the nation's youth and a drug-free Pakistan can only be achieved through sustained public awareness and coordinated action.
The awareness walk was organised with the collaboration of the Anjuman-e-Insidad-e-Manshiyat and Counter Narcotics Force (CNF).
Director CNF Punjab Colonel Zakir Ali Khan led the walk commenced from District Council Chowk and attracted the participation of officials, health experts, law enforcement personnel and members of civil society.
Among others who joined the walk were Director Anti-Narcotics Force Nawaz Natt, renowned psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Imtiaz Ahmad Dogar, General Secretary of Anjuman-e-Insidad-e-Manshiyat Madam Amina Akram, Inspector Muhammad Shahid Rafiq Jatt, Excise and Taxation Inspector Faisal Ali and social worker Afzal Jalandhari, besides a large number of volunteers and citizens.
The participants carried banners and placards bearing slogans such as "Our pledge, our dream—Drug-Free Pakistan" and other messages highlighting the need to eradicate drug abuse and protect future generations from the menace of narcotics.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Addressing the participants, Colonel Zakir Ali Khan said that narcotics were eating away at society like termites and called for practical and coordinated measures by every segment of society to support the ongoing campaign against drug abuse.
He stressed that safeguarding young people from addiction was essential to securing a bright and prosperous future for the country.
He said that fight against narcotics could not be won by law enforcement agencies alone rather it required active participation from parents, educational institutions, community organizations, religious leaders and the media to raise awareness and discourage drug use among youth.
Other speakers reiterated their commitment to continuing efforts for the complete eradication of narcotics and urged the public to play an active role in creating a healthy, safe and drug-free society.
They emphasized that awareness, prevention, education and effective enforcement remained the key pillars in combating the growing menace of drug abuse.
