Awareness walk held to mark World Civil Defence Day

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Mar, 2026) The district administration in collaboration with Civil Defense Department has organized an awareness walk to mark World Civil Defense Day, reaffirming commitment to strengthening emergency preparedness and promoting public awareness about safety measures.

Additional Deputy Commissioner General Fazal Abbas led the walk, which witnessed active participation from civil defense officials, volunteers and members of civil society.

Additional Director Civil Defense Muhammad Mubashir Rabbani, Civil Defense Officer Rana Muhammad Abbas, Commander Federal Civil Defense Samiullah and Chief Instructor Muhammad Shakoor were also present on the occasion.

The walk commenced from District Council Chowk and passed through Press Club, Circular Road and Katchery Bazaar before culminating at its designated endpoint.

The participants carried banners and placards inscribed with slogans highlighting the importance, necessity and effectiveness of civil defense in safeguarding lives and property.

An exhibition of machinery and equipment used in emergency response operations was also arranged to create awareness among the public.

Addressing the participants, Additional Deputy Commissioner General Fazal Abbas said that civil defense training constitutes a great service to humanity and observing the international day reflects a renewed resolve to keep the civil defense system strong and effective.

He said that civil defense enjoys global recognition as an essential system and significant modernization efforts in Faisalabad over recent years have further strengthened and activated the local framework.

He paid tribute to the Civil Defense organization for rendering selfless services during difficult times without regard for personal safety.

The volunteers consistently place their lives at risk to rescue people in distress, he added.

He stressed that every citizen should familiarize themselves with civil defense principles and precautionary measures to effectively respond to emergencies and disasters.

He appreciated the arrangements made for the awareness walk and exhibition of rescue machinery and equipment, noting that in today’s fast-paced and rapidly developing era, the importance of civil defense has increased manifold.

During disasters and accidents, civil defense workers play a pivotal role in rescue operations, often risking their lives to save others, he added.

Civil Defense Officer Rana Muhammad Abbas said that World Civil Defense Day serves as a reminder to renew the pledge to remain prepared for challenging situations and emergencies.

He informed that multiple programs are being conducted to provide modern training to volunteers and enhance their capacity and working conditions.

Awareness sessions are also being organized in various departments, industrial units and social institutions to educate staff and communities about civil defense principles, he added.

Earlier, Additional Deputy Commissioner General visited the exhibition where emergency response equipment was displayed for public awareness.

The exhibited items included bomb disposal robots, bulletproof jackets, bulletproof helmets, folding stretchers, metal detectors, gas masks, explosive detectors, electric torches, drills, cutters, life jackets, flame cutters, jumping sheets, life rings and other equipment used in firefighting and rescue operations.
