SUKKUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Apr, 2026) Sindh Rural Support Organisation (SRSO) marked community awareness sessions to observe the World Malaria Day, in district Ghotki under the GFATM-Malaria Project on Thursday.

Local Support Organization (LSO), Village Jan Khan Unar and Village Kalo Sial supported the event with collaboration of the District Health education Team, District VBD Team and the SRSO-Social Mobilization Team (SMT), Mirpur Mathelo.

Dr Kainat Naich, DMU In charge and Focal Person VBD, briefed participants on the importance of World Malaria Day. She said the day is observed globally to raise awareness about malaria prevention and control, and to stress early diagnosis and timely treatment.

She urged communities to adopt preventive measures, including the use of mosquito nets and maintaining cleanliness in their surroundings.

Special attention, she said, must be given to vulnerable groups such as children and pregnant women. “Collective efforts are required to eliminate malaria and reduce its burden,” Dr Naich added.

Health Education Officer Javed Abbasi and Abdul Wahab later gave a detailed briefing on malaria prevention and guided participants on accessing government health facilities for free testing.

SRSO District Coordinator for the GFATM Malaria Project informed the community that anti-malarial drugs and Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) kits had been provided to all public health facilities. He encouraged residents to visit government hospitals to avail free testing and treatment services.
