SUKKUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Feb, 2026) As part of ongoing efforts to ensure a safe and dignified work environment for women, the Regional Office of the Ombudsman of Sindh on Wednesday organized its 7th awareness session on workplace harassment at EduCare Sindh Institute, New Sukkur City.
The session was led by consultant to Ombudsman Sindh, Muhammad Iqbal Arain, and aimed at sensitizing faculty, staff, and administration about their legal and ethical responsibilities in creating a harassment free workplace.
Arain delivered a comprehensive briefing on the “Protection against Harassment of Women at Workplace Act 2010,” highlighting various forms of harassment, complaint mechanisms, and the mandatory formation of inquiry committees in all public and private organizations.
He emphasized that every institution is legally bound to display the anti harassment policy prominently, constitute a functional inquiry committee, and ensure timely redressal of complaints.
He further stated that concealing or ignoring harassment cases is a punishable offense and that strict action will be taken against those responsible. He urged all organizations to conduct at least one training and awareness session annually for their employees to ensure full understanding of the law.
“Ensuring women’s protection is not only a legal requirement but also a moral and social responsibility,” said Arain. “A safe and respectful environment fosters professional performance, trust, and institutional growth.” He warned that negligence in implementing the law could lead to legal action against defaulting institutions.
The Director of EduCare Sindh Institute appreciated the Ombudsman’s initiative and reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to upholding dignity, safety, and equality for all employees. He announced that the institute’s anti-harassment committee would be further strengthened and that a transparent and clear mechanism for complaint resolution would be adopted.
He thanked the institute’s Director, Waqas Haider, for his cooperation and expressed his resolve to expand awareness campaigns across educational institutions, government offices, and private organizations in Sukkur Division. He emphasized that citizens must be fully informed of their legal rights and protections.
The Regional Office Sukkur has directed all concerned institutions to ensure full and effective implementation of the law, establish easy and secure complaint registration systems, and take practical steps to eliminate harassment and discrimination from workplaces.
