LARKANA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Apr, 2026) The consultant Syed Shakeel Haider of the Regional Office Larkana of the Provincial Ombudsman Sindh stated that harassment refers to looking at women inappropriately in workplaces and disturbing them during work.
He advised women and female students that if they face harassment during their jobs or education, they should not panic but inform their parents so that the issue can be resolved.
He expressed these views while addressing an awareness seminar organized by the Ombudsman’s office at Women Elementary College Larkana on Monday regarding protection against harassment. He emphasized that women should remain strong, be courageous, and not be afraid during their jobs. If someone harasses them, they should raise their voice and struggle for their rights.
He further said that society has many problems which must be faced, and efforts should be made to solve them. People should raise their voices against injustices and promote awareness. He explained that harassment includes blocking someone’s way, committing violence, and disturbing students during their education in a way that affects their learning.
He added that forced retirement, blocking promotions, illegal suspension, and withholding annual increments during employment are also forms of harassment. If a woman employee is harassed in an institution, the perpetrator can be punished.
He further stated that as society has changed, problems have also increased, largely because people have moved away from their religious values. He highlighted that women play an important role in society and have contributed to its development, so they should speak out against injustices. If they do not receive justice locally, they should file a complaint with the Ombudsman’s office, where they will be provided justice.
Earlier, Principal Muhammad Mallah said that people should strengthen themselves to face societal changes, and women should raise their voices against injustices.
The seminar was attended by Reshma Channa, Mansoor Ali Mangi, Sajjad Ali Sheikh, Abdul Samee Soomro, Junaid Ahmed, Kamran Ahmed, and others.
