LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Mar, 2026) The Department of Auqaf and Religious Affairs organized a conference titled “Hazrat Syedna Ali Al-Murtaza Karamullah Wajho Conference” at Khatam-un-Nabiyyeen University on Wednesday to pay tribute to the life and services of Hazrat Ali (RA).
Punjab Minister for Health and Chairman Cabinet Committee on Law and Order Khawaja Salman Rafique and Provincial Minister for Auqaf and Religious Affairs Chaudhry Shafay Hussain attended the event as special guests. Scholars and speakers highlighted the virtues, character and sacrifices of Hazrat Ali (RA) and discussed the significance of his martyrdom in Islamic history.
Addressing the conference, Khawaja Salman Rafique said that the gathering was organized to pay homage to a great personality of Islam, Hazrat Ali Karamullah Wajho. He said that Hazrat Ali (RA) displayed unmatched courage and devotion in the service of Islam.
He recalled the historic event of the conquest of Khyber, stating that despite the efforts of many companions, the fortress could not be conquered until the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) announced that the flag would be given to a person who loved Allah and His Messenger and was loved by them. The next day, Hazrat Ali (RA) was given the flag and he successfully conquered the fort of Khyber.
Khawaja Salman Rafique also spoke about the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali (RA), stating that in 37 AH Abdur Rahman Ibn Muljam Al-Muradi attacked him with a poisoned sword while he was going to the mosque for Fajr prayer during the month of Ramadan.
Hazrat Ali (RA) embraced martyrdom on the 21st of Ramadan.
He said the history of islam is filled with sacrifices and martyrdoms, including those of Hazrat Umar Farooq (RA), Hazrat Usman (RA), Hazrat Hamza (RA) and the martyrs of Karbala.
The minister emphasized the need for unity among Muslims, saying that all schools of thought must remain united. He added that on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the government maintains engagement with scholars from all sects to promote harmony.
He said that regardless of sectarian differences, Muslims must stand united and work collectively for the stability and protection of Pakistan, a country built on the sacrifices of their elders.
Provincial Minister for Auqaf and Religious Affairs Chaudhry Shafay Hussain also addressed the gathering and highlighted the teachings, bravery and spiritual legacy of Hazrat Ali (RA).
On the occasion, Secretary Auqaf Department Dr Ehsan Bhutta, Director General Auqaf Shahid Hussain Kalyani, Khateeb Badshahi Mosque and Chairman Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Maulana Syed Abdul Khabir Azad, Allama Dr Syed Hussain Akbar, Mufti Intikhab Ahmad Noori, Allama Shafiq Pasruri, Allama Ramadan Sialvi, Allama Zubair Ahmad Zaheer and a large number of scholars and participants attended the conference.
