Attock administration finalizes comprehensive Muharram security plan; DC orders enhanced vigilance

ATTOCK, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Jun, 2026) The district administration on Tuesday finalized a comprehensive security and administrative plan for Muharram-ul-Haram during a high-level review meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Attock, Rao Atif Raza, aimed at ensuring peaceful observance of religious activities across the district.

The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioners from across Attock, along with senior officials of the police, Rescue 1122, Health Department, Local Government Department, Civil Defence, Highways Department, WAPDA, Environment Department, Information Department, and other relevant agencies. Participants conducted a detailed review of arrangements for Majalis and processions, including security measures, sanitation, uninterrupted electricity supply, provision of clean drinking water, medical facilities, traffic management, and emergency response preparedness.

Addressing the participants, Deputy Commissioner Rao Atif Raza emphasized that maintaining peace, religious harmony, and brotherhood during Muharram-ul-Haram remained the district administration’s foremost priority. He directed all departments to work in close coordination and implement a unified strategy to facilitate mourners and ensure a peaceful environment throughout the district. He further instructed Assistant Commissioners to personally monitor arrangements in their respective jurisdictions and ensure the immediate resolution of any emerging issues.

The Deputy Commissioner warned that negligence in providing essential civic facilities, including cleanliness, lighting, and maintenance of procession routes, would not be tolerated. During the briefing, officers informed the meeting that a comprehensive administrative and security plan had been finalized for all Majalis and processions, while special monitoring mechanisms were being established at sensitive locations.

District police officials briefed the meeting on security measures, stating that foolproof arrangements would be implemented during Muharram. Additional police personnel will be deployed for effective monitoring of processions and gatherings, while CCTV surveillance, search-and-sweep operations, and strict checking at entry and exit points will be carried out to avert any untoward incidents.

Concluding the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner directed all concerned institutions to remain fully coordinated throughout Muharram-ul-Haram and ensure strict implementation of the directives of the Government of Punjab to safeguard the lives and property of citizens and maintain law and order across the district.
