LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th May, 2026) An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Tuesday acquitted four accused, including two police officials, in a kidnap-for-ransom case after the complainant and prosecution witnesses retracted their statements before the court.
Judge Shahid Sikandar announced the verdict and ordered the acquittal of the accused identified as Aqib Javed, Muhammad Ali, Touqeer Ahmed and Wajid Ali.
During the hearing, the complainant and other witnesses told the court that they did not recognize the accused and had no objection to their acquittal.

According to the prosecution, the accused had allegedly kidnapped citizen Hafiz Muhammad Nadeem and demanded Rs2.5 million as ransom. The prosecution claimed that Rs700,000 had also been received by the accused.
Two of the acquitted accused, Aqib Javed and Muhammad Ali, were serving as police officials at the time of the incident.
The case was registered in 2025 at Raiwind City Police Station.
