Police say bus was travelling from Quetta to Peshawar when the accident occurred in the mountainous Danasar area
ZHOB:(UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-July 3rd, 2026) At least 24 people, including women and children, were killed and 14 others injured after a passenger bus plunged into a deep ravine in the Danasar area of Zhob district, Balochistan, on Friday, police and rescue officials said on Friday.
The police said that the bus was travelling from Quetta to Peshawar when the accident occurred in the mountainous Danasar area. Preliminary investigations suggest that the vehicle's brakes failed, causing the driver to lose control before the bus veered off the road and fell into a ravine.
The impact of the crash left 24 passengers dead at the scene, while 14 others sustained injuries of varying severity. Authorities said the injured included women and children, many of whom were critically hurt in the accident.
Rescue teams, police personnel and local residents rushed to the site immediately after receiving information about the crash. A rescue operation was launched to recover the victims and pull survivors from the wreckage despite the difficult terrain.
The injured were shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital in Zhob, where emergency measures were put in place to provide medical treatment.

Police officials said an investigation had been initiated to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the accident. Initial findings indicate that brake failure was the Primary cause, although a detailed mechanical inspection of the vehicle will be carried out as part of the inquiry.
Road accidents involving passenger buses remain a recurring concern in Pakistan, particularly on highways passing through mountainous regions where steep slopes, sharp turns and poor road conditions increase the risk of fatal crashes. Authorities have repeatedly stressed the importance of regular vehicle inspections and strict enforcement of road safety regulations to prevent such tragedies.
The bodies of the deceased were being shifted to nearby hospitals for legal formalities before being handed over to their families, while rescue officials continued relief efforts at the accident site.
