ASI succumbs to injuries after foiling bank robbery

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Mar, 2026) An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) who bravely attempted to foil a major bank robbery near Machni Gate in the provincial capital succumbed to his injuries on Thursday.

According to police, ASI Bahar Ali sustained critical gunshot wounds when armed robbers opened fire during the attempted heist at a bank where nearly Rs 25 million were reportedly present.

The injured officer was immediately shifted to a hospital in critical condition and remained under treatment for some time.

However, he could not survive and passed away.

Police said the incident occurred when robbers attempted to carry out the bank robbery near Machni Gate. ASI Bahar Ali confronted the suspects in an effort to thwart the crime, during which the assailants opened fire, leaving him severely injured.

Police authorities paid tribute to the fallen officer, describing his sacrifice as an act of bravery in the line of duty while protecting public property and maintaining law and order.
