Arrangements for By-Election in PS-30 Khairpur-V reviewed

SUKKUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Jul, 2026) The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) would hold the by election in the Provincial Assembly constituency PS-30 Khairpur-V on August 16.

In this connection, an important meeting was held here at the Conference Hall of the Commissioner Office under the chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner Sukkur, Abid Saleem Qureshi, in which election arrangements, security, transport, basic facilities, electricity, health and other important matters were reviewed in detail.

Addressing the meeting, Commissioner Sukkur Division, Abid Saleem Qureshi directed that strict implementation of the code of conduct be ensured in accordance with the law. He said that the divisional and district administrations would fully discharge their responsibilities to make the by-election in PS-30 fair and peaceful.

He directed that provision of basic facilities, electricity, security arrangements, polling staff and transport for delivery of election material be ensured at all polling stations. Keeping in view monsoon rains and a possible flood situation, the Contingency Plan should be implemented and an alternative Plan B should also be kept ready.

The Commissioner further said that the Election Commission, district administration, police, Assistant Commissioners and Mukhtiarkars of Gambat and Sobhodero would continuously monitor the election process and perform their duties effectively.

He also directed to ensure 100 percent attendance during the training of polling staff, while ordering to take measures for deployment of Lady Health Workers along with lady police personnel at women's polling stations.

The Commissioner Sukkur Division directed the Director Colleges to work jointly with the Director Primary and Secondary education to ensure provision of all basic facilities at the Camp Office to be established at Government Degree Science College Gambat as well as other polling stations.

During the meeting, Regional Election Commissioner Sukkur Adnan Bashir informed that a Camp Office would be established at Government Degree Science College Gambat, from where DRO, Regional Director Election Commission Larkana, Abdul Waheed Baloch and he himself would supervise the election process.

He said that close liaison would be maintained with all relevant institutions so that the election would held in a fair, impartial and peaceful environment. For this purpose, continuous contact would be maintained with the Police, Rangers, district administration and officers appointed by the Election Commission of Pakistan.

Giving a briefing, District Election Commissioner Khairpur Naeem-ur-Rehman Jalbani said that a total of 163 polling stations had been established for the by-election in two Tehsils of Khairpur district, Gambat and Sobhodero of which 63 have been declared highly sensitive, 68 sensitive and 32 normal. He said that 254,980 registered voters would exercise their right to vote in the constituency.

He further said that full liaison and cooperation was underway with Deputy Commissioner Khairpur Altaf Ahmed Chachar and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Khairpur, Amir Saud Magsi for installation of CCTV cameras at polling stations.

Deputy Commissioner, Khairpur Altaf Ahmed Chachar, while addressing the meeting, said that personal supervision would be maintained on election arrangements, visits to polling stations, provision of basic facilities and other important matters, while planning has been done keeping in view the experiences of previous elections.

SSP Khairpur Amir Saud Magsi said that the police have prepared a contingency plan for election security and every possible assistance would be provided in cooperation with Rangers and the district administration for holding the election in a peaceful environment.

District Monitoring Officer, Attaullah Brohi, DIB Incharge Khairpur Ali Gul Mallah, Director Schools Hafiz Abdul Waheed Indhar, officers of SEPCO, PPHI, NADRA, College Education, Information Department and other relevant departments also attended the meeting.
