SARGODHA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Mar, 2026) Special price control magistrates and Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA) personnel, on the directives of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Asad Abbas Magsi, conducted 7,972 inspections across various markets in Mianwali district this week to ensure the sale of essential commodities at notified rates during Ramazan.
According to an official statement issued here on Friday, the administration intensified its monitoring campaign to curb profiteering and hoarding in the district.
During these field operations, the teams imposed fines totaling Rs 81,500 on numerous shopkeepers found guilty of overcharging consumers.
Additionally, at least 15 shopkeepers were arrested for gross violations of the Price Control Act and for failing to display official price lists.
The Deputy Commissioner Asad Abbas Magsi directed the magistrates to maintain a constant presence in the markets, asserting that no one would be permitted to exploit citizens during the holy month.
He further emphasized that the crackdown against artificial inflation and price hikes would continue across the district to provide relief to the general public.
