ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Jun, 2026) Senior APHC-AJK leader Muhammad Farooq Rehmani hailed Pakistan’s political and military leadership for their diplomatic efforts, congratulating them on helping secure the US-Iran ceasefire and the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Rehmani praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their patient and effective diplomacy, saying the breakthrough could inspire progress on other long-standing conflicts, particularly Kashmir and Palestine.

He urged the international community to address the unresolved Jammu and Kashmir dispute, stressing that the issue has remained pending since 1947.

Rehmani called on India and Pakistan to cooperate with the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the United Nations Security Council to facilitate a free, fair and impartial plebiscite.

Rehmani said the Muslim-majority region of Jammu and Kashmir, including Ladakh and Kargil has remained divided for 78 years and alleged that changes to its legal and political status violate international law and UNCIP resolutions.

He further claimed that Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed restrictions on communication and shrinking space for freedom of expression, describing the situation as deeply concerning.

Concluding his remarks, Rehmani urged Pakistan to use the momentum created by the recent diplomatic success to raise the Kashmir issue with major world powers and friendly countries, warning that sustained international engagement is needed to prevent further deterioration in the region.
