Anti-smog gun arrives to combat air pollution

DERA GHAZI KHAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Jun, 2026) The Punjab Environment Protection Department, in collaboration with the district administration, has

introduced a modern “Anti-Smog Gun” in Dera Ghazi Khan to help reduce air pollution and improve

environmental conditions in the region.

A formal inauguration ceremony for the service was held in the city.

The inauguration was conducted by Additional Director General Operations, Punjab Environment Protection Department, Dr. Zafar Iqbal, along with Additional Deputy Commissioner General Muhammad Asad Chandia. Officials from the Environment Protection Department, including Assistant Director Ali Raza, and other staff members were also present on the occasion.

Speaking to media representatives, Dr Zafar Iqbal said that on the special directives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the advanced anti-smog gun has been provided to help control air pollution, dust, and smoke effectively. He said the vehicle, equipped with modern technology, would play an important role in improving air quality and creating a cleaner environment by generating a cooling effect through

fine water spray.

Additional Deputy Commissioner General Muhammad Asad Chandia said the facility would be strategically used along procession routes, major roads, and public gathering points during Muharram to ensure enhanced environmental conditions for citizens.
