KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th May, 2026) Spokesperson for the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for Sindh Affairs, Raja Khaleeq uz Zaman Ansari, has rejected Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab’s allegation that the Federal government is responsible for stopping water supply to Karachi, terming it contrary to facts and an attempt to mislead the public.
In a statement issued here on Monday, Raja Ansari said that water shortage in Karachi is not a new issue but a longstanding administrative, technical, and infrastructure-related crisis that has persisted for decades. He said the Primary responsibility for the issue lies with the relevant provincial and local institutions.
He said the federal government was fully aware of Karachi’s problems and has been extending continuous cooperation for their resolution.
Raja Ansari said if the Mayor of Karachi is serious about resolving the citizens’ issues, he should focus on the performance of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation, water theft, line losses and the flawed water distribution system instead of making political statements.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>He said the K-IV project remains among the federal government’s top priorities, and its completion will provide additional water to the residents of Karachi. He added that the federal government has always played a positive and responsible role in the city’s development projects.
The spokesperson further said that the people of Karachi want solutions to their problems, not a blame game and political point-scoring. He said such statements contribute to political unrest rather than helping resolve public issues.
Raja Ansari reiterated that the federal government will not leave the people of Karachi alone and will continue to provide every possible support for addressing the city’s basic problems.
