PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th May, 2026) Awami National Party (ANP) leader, Mian Iftikhar Hussain Saturday declared that sustainable development in district Khyber region was impossible without restoration of peace, asserting that provincial government's ongoing silence regarding unrest in Khyber, Tirah, and Bara was entirely unacceptable.
Addressing current security climate, he emphasized that Pashtun nation had historically borne brunt of terrorism and made unparalleled sacrifices, yet continues to face instability. He called upon state to move beyond rhetoric and take immediate, practical steps to ensure public safety. He said that people of region can no longer tolerate cycles of unrest and displacement that had upended their lives.

He reiterated that ANP remained committed to protecting rights of Pashtun and would continue to advocate for their security across all political forums. Highlighting a growing sense of trust in party's platform, he welcomed joining of prominent families from Sipah tribe, viewing their inclusion as a testament to party's leadership.
Ultimately, he warned that struggle for peace remained ANP's top priority, demanding that the state demonstrated genuine seriousness in addressing grievances of residents of Bara and Tirah.
