ABBOTTABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Apr, 2026) A tragic incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Nara Police Station at Ambrela Waterfall, where a 49-year-old tourist, Muhammad Moazzam Ishaq, a resident of Islamabad, lost his life after falling into a ravine.

According to police, the victim had arrived at the site along with eight friends for a recreational visit when the accident took place.

The Station House Officer (SHO) of Nara Police Station, along with a police team, responded promptly and retrieved the body from the ravine, shifting it to a hospital for post-mortem examination.

The incident has once again brought attention to the lack of safety arrangements at the popular tourist destination.

Visitors and locals have repeatedly pointed out the absence of protective barriers, warning signs, and emergency response facilities at the site.

These deficiencies have contributed to a growing number of accidents involving tourists, with fatalities reportedly increasing year after year.

It is further being noted that funds for the upgradation of the waterfall have reportedly been approved long ago, yet no visible development work has been carried out. Questions are being raised as to why the project remains delayed.

In view of the hazardous conditions and difficult mountainous terrain, it is suggested that either strict restrictions be imposed on visitors especially those unfamiliar with the terrain or the site should be completely closed until proper upgradation and safety measures are completed.

Despite the increasing tourist influx, authorities have yet to implement adequate safety protocols, raising serious concerns over public safety and the management of tourist destinations in the region.
