LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Feb, 2026) The Department of Public Health at University of the Punjab organized an “Anemia Free Booth” in collaboration with Allah Walay Trust and the Nutrition & Wellbeing Society to create awareness about iron deficiency anemia among students, here on Saturday.
Renowned public health scholar Prof Dr Rubina Zakar and Incharge Department of Public Health Dr Nauman Ali Choudhary, along with faculty members and students, participated in the event.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Rubina Zakar and Dr Nauman Ali emphasized their vision of promoting an anemia-free student community, highlighting the active involvement of 4th semester students of BS Nutrition and Dietetics in organizing the initiative.
An interactive awareness session was conducted by Zoha Aslam, Coordinator of the Nutrition Department at Allah Walay Trust. She elaborated on the causes, symptoms, and long-term health consequences of iron deficiency anemia, particularly among young women.
A free on-the-spot screening camp was also arranged, offering hemoglobin testing to students. Participants received
brief individualized counseling based on their test results, encouraging early diagnosis and timely dietary interventions.
