Ali Pur police arrest murder suspect declared dead 16 years ago

ALI PUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Feb, 2026) In a dramatic development, Ali Pur police have arrested a murder suspect, who had been presumed dead for over 16 years.

According to police sources, the murder occurred in the jurisdiction of Saddar Police Station, Ali Pur, in the village of Bakar Shah Shumali. The accused, Faiz Bakhsh, son of Bahadar Khan, disappeared immediately after the crime and remained untraceable. Some time later, his family announced that he had passed away. Funeral prayers were offered, condolences were extended, and the case was effectively treated as closed with the suspect believed to be deceased.

As years passed, witnesses faded and the case went cold.

Recently, on the directives of District Police Officer Syed Ghazanfar Shah, the cold case was reopened. Under the leadership of SHO Saddar Ali Pur, Muzammil Shah, a special investigation team comprising ASI Iftikhar Nazir, ASI Rana Mursaleen, and other officials re-examined the case using modern investigative techniques and intelligence sources.

In a cinematic twist, the man long presumed dead was found alive and living under a new identity. Police successfully traced and arrested the “deceased” suspect from Lahore.
