LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Jun, 2026) The Lahore Arts Council (Alhamra) organised a programme titled 'The Expression of Karbala in the Arts” in connection with Muharram-ul-Haram, bringing together scholars, poets, artists and intellectuals to discuss the impact of Karbala on literature, visual arts and culture.
The speakers said the message of Karbala continued to inspire humanity through its values of truth, justice, sacrifice and resistance against oppression.
The event was moderated by playwright and scholar Dr. Asghar Nadeem Syed and featured Principal National College of Arts Dr. Murtaza Jafri, poet Abbas Tabish and actor Waseem Abbas as panelists.
The speakers highlighted the influence of Karbala on poetry, painting, calligraphy and other forms of artistic expression, stating that the sacrifice of Imam Hussain (AS) remained a source of inspiration for generations.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Poet Abbas Tabish also presented verses in tribute to Imam Hussain (AS) and the martyrs of Karbala, while renowned vocalists Ustad Hamid Ali Khan and Inam Ali Khan presented devotional performances.
Speaking on the occasion, Executive Director Alhamra Muhammad Nawaz Gondal said Karbala’s message continued to inspire artistic creation and strengthen the values of justice, courage and moral responsibility. He said Alhamra would continue organizing programmes aimed at promoting meaningful cultural and intellectual discourse.
