AJK President appoints Justice Ghulam Mustafa Mughal as Chief Election Commissioner of Azad Jammu and Kashmir

The former Chief Justice Supreme Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir justice Ghulam Mustafa Mughal has been appointed as Chief Election Commissioner of Azad Jammu and Kashmir said a notification issued here today (Thursday)

MUZAFFARABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Feb, 2026) The former Chief Justice Supreme Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir justice Ghulam Mustafa Mughal has been appointed as Chief Election Commissioner of Azad Jammu and Kashmir said a notification issued here today (Thursday).

According to the notification, the president of Azad Jammu and Kashmir on the advice of Chairman of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Council(AJ&K) while exercising his powers conferred to him under sub article ( 3) of Article 50 of the interim constitution 1974 of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has formally appointed Ex CJ of AJK supreme court Justice Ghulam Mustafa Mughal as Chief Election Commissioner of Azad Jammu and Kashmir for five years term.

The notification has been issued to AJK PM, Speaker AJK Legislative Assembly, Chief Justice AJK Supreme Court/High Court and all concerned quarters in this regard.
