MIRPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Jul, 2026) Kashmir Martyrs' Day was observed across Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Monday with prayer gatherings, seminars and rallies commemorating those killed during the 1931 Srinagar uprising against the Dogra administration. The events paid tribute to the protesters who died outside Srinagar Central Jail and reaffirmed calls for the peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute.

According to APP's AJK correspondent, commemorative events were held in Mirpur, Muzaffarabad, Kotli, Bagh, Rawalakot, Haveli, Neelum Valley, Bhimber and other districts, where political, religious and civil society representatives highlighted the historical significance of July 13, 1931. Speakers described the deaths of the protesters as a turning point in Kashmir's political history and reiterated support for the right to self-determination, a position long advocated by Pakistan.

Participants at the events also expressed concern over the situation in Indian-administered Kashmir.

Speakers alleged that authorities had restricted access to martyrs' graveyards and criticized New Delhi's policies in the region. India maintains that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of the country and has consistently rejected Pakistan's position on the dispute.

In Mirpur, a ceremony attended by Deputy Commissioner and National Events Organising Committee Chairman Sajid Aslam Chaudhry, alongside representatives of civil society, offered prayers for those who lost their lives in the Kashmir conflict. Separately, the Kashmir Press Club Mirpur, in collaboration with the Jammu Kashmir Free Media Association, held a commemorative event where journalists and community leaders paid tribute to those killed in 1931 and called for a peaceful settlement of the Kashmir issue in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions.
