AJK launches integrated plan for mega sports grounds in rural areas

MIRPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Apr, 2026) An integrated phased plan has been launched in Azad Jammu and Kashmir to develop modern sports grounds in rural areas on a par with urban facilities, aiming to promote healthy activities among youth across the region.

In this regard on Sunday, while exclusively talking to APP, Chairman District Council Mirpur Raja Naveed Akhtar Goga said the initiative reflects a strong commitment to expanding sports infrastructure beyond cities into towns and villages. He noted that the under-construction Chitterpari Sports Ground is being developed as a landmark project under this broader vision.

During a visit to the site, accompanied by Chief Officer District Council Mughees Riaz, the chairman directed contractors to complete paving works within days so that the facility can be made operational for sporting activities at the earliest.

He said the ground would soon be ready to host events for children and youth.

He added that walking tracks and modern facilities are also being included in the project to enable regional-level sports events. Emphasizing community participation, he urged local residents to cooperate in the development process, stating that promoting healthy recreational opportunities remains a key priority of the district council.
