MIRPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Feb, 2026) The Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Inspection and Implementation Commission, Chaudhry Hassan Ashraf, has directed the management of Mirpur Divisional Teaching Hospital to refrain from referring patients to other health facilities without valid medical justification. The instructions were issued during a surprise visit to the hospital on Tuesday, where he assessed service delivery and patient care standards. He stressed that patients arriving at the state-run facility must be treated there whenever possible, thereby reducing inconvenience to the public.

During his inspection, the chairman toured the emergency unit, trauma centre, X-ray and ultrasound departments, blood bank, medical store, and various wards, while also reviewing arrangements for both indoor and outdoor patients. Moreover, he interacted with hospitalised individuals to gather first-hand feedback on the quality of care. Officials briefed him on the services being delivered within the available and limited resources, including ongoing administrative and clinical challenges.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Ashraf said the matter of upgrading the Kashmir Cardiology Center would be taken up at the government level, so that it could be developed into a fully functional and modern cardiac hospital. In addition, he emphasised that enhanced facilities for heart patients would significantly improve access to specialised treatment in the region. The move, he noted, would ultimately strengthen the local healthcare system.

Medical Superintendent Dr. Raja Ijaz Ahmed Khan, DHO Dr. Fida Hussain Raja, DMS Dr. Maria Zulfiqar, and other staff members accompanied the inspection team and outlined operational matters. Meanwhile, the chairman issued specific instructions for improving management, hygiene and medical services, however, he expressed overall satisfaction with the hospital’s cleanliness, orderliness and administrative performance, assuring that outstanding issues would be addressed at the earliest.
