AJK Cabinet passes resolutions on Pakistan's diplomatic success, Kashmir and national sacrifices

MIRPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Jun, 2026) The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Cabinet on Monday unanimously adopted a series of resolutions at its meeting chaired by Prime Minister Chaudhry Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, commending Pakistan's recent diplomatic efforts, reaffirming support for the Kashmir cause and paying tribute to members of the armed forces and law enforcement agencies who lost their lives in the line of duty.

The cabinet lauded Pakistan's diplomatic role in helping ease tensions between Iran and the United States, describing the Islamabad Declaration (MoU) as a significant achievement of the country's foreign policy. The resolutions commended Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their leadership, strategic vision and diplomatic efforts, stating that the development had enhanced Pakistan's international standing and promoted peace, stability and dialogue in the Muslim world.

Expressing concern over the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the cabinet condemned alleged human rights violations, including arbitrary arrests, extrajudicial actions, restrictions on freedom of expression, curbs on the media and demographic changes in the territory.

It urged the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and international human rights organizations to take effective measures to ensure the Kashmiri people's right to self-determination in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions.

The cabinet also paid tribute to the personnel martyred in the Pakistan Army helicopter crash in Muzaffarabad, Flight Lieutenant Taha Abbasi who lost his life in a training aircraft crash in Mardan, and four police officials martyred while restoring law and order in Azad Kashmir. It expressed condolences over the loss of three lives in a landslide incident in Abbaspur and prayed for the bereaved families. The cabinet also unanimously expressed confidence in the Pakistan Peoples Party-led AJK government's performance under Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, appreciating its initiatives in governance, public welfare, infrastructure development, education, healthcare, employment generation and institutional strengthening. It expressed optimism that the government's performance would provide a solid foundation for success in the scheduled July 27, 2026 elections.
