He was speaking during a visit to the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where he was received by RCCI President Usman Shaukat, Vice President Fahad Barlas and members of the executive committee.

In his remarks, Dar described the proposed AI Delivery Unit as a globally unique initiative aimed at driving governance reforms and accelerating development. Expected to be launched next month, the unit carries an estimated investment potential of USD 5.0 to 6.0 billion and will focus on leveraging Pakistan’s talent pool for an AI-driven governance model.

Turning to local development, he said Rawalpindi would be the first city to see the establishment of an economic and industrial zone under the Central Business District (CBD) and Smart Rawalpindi vision, adding that a dedicated working group would be formed for effective implementation.

Earlier, RCCI President Usman Shaukat highlighted the significance of the Rawalpindi Ring Road project, calling for fast-tracked land acquisition and a formal announcement of economic zones at its inauguration. He said the initiative could transform the city into a major trade hub.

Chairman Ring Road Development Committee Syed Asad Mashhadi briefed participants on the project, noting that relocating wholesale markets and transport hubs along the corridor would help ease urban congestion while boosting sectors including pharmaceuticals, furniture, construction and gems.

During an interactive session, business leaders proposed extending business hours, improving service delivery and addressing operational constraints faced by the trading community.
