Ahsan Iqbal praises innovative student projects at University of Narowal

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Jun, 2026) Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Prof Ahsan Iqbal has said that country's youth possess extraordinary talent and that if they are provided with the right opportunities, Pakistan can emerge as one of the world’s leading economic powers.

He visited the University of Narowal and reviewed final-year design projects presented by students during the university’s annual project, “Exponentia 26", said a press release, issued here on Saturday.

The exhibition featured innovative projects developed by students from the departments of Computer Science Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, and Biomedical Engineering.

Ahsan Iqbal expressed his delight at visiting the university, recalling that establishing an engineering university in the region had once been his dream.

“I am extremely happy to be here today. It was my vision to see an engineering university established in Narowal, and today thousands of engineers are graduating from this campus,” he said.

The minister praised the dedication and academic performance of Narowal’s youth, noting that the quality of the final-year projects demonstrated the immense potential of Pakistan’s younger generation.

Highlighting the importance of education and technological advancement, Ahsan Iqbal said that the future belongs to nations that invest in knowledge and innovation.

“Today, global competition is no longer based on weapons, it is based on knowledge. The nations that lead in education, research, and technology will shape the future,” he remarked.

The minister urged students to continue working hard and contribute positively to the country’s development.

He emphasized that Pakistan’s future is closely tied to the success of its youth, whom he described as the nation’s greatest strength.

Referring to the challenges posed by political instability, Ahsan Iqbal noted that several development projects had been delayed or abandoned over the years. However, he expressed optimism about the country’s economic prospects.

“If peace and stability are maintained, I am confident that within the next five to ten years Pakistan will be among the fastest-growing economies in the world,” he said.

He further stressed the need to reduce dependence on loans, expand exports, and introduce Pakistani products to international markets. He also underscored the significance of the engineering profession, saying that engineers would play a pivotal role in driving Pakistan’s future growth and development.

The minister also distributed shields to the winning teams in recognition of their outstanding achievements.
