Agriculture not merely a profession but serving humanity: Dr Ghulam Murtaza

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th May, 2026) Dean Faculty of Agriculture University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) Prof Dr Ghulam Murtaza said that agriculture was not merely a profession but one of the most significant means of serving humanity.

He was addressing an awareness seminar organized at UAF regarding the selection of major subjects for B.Sc. Agriculture.

He urged the students to select major agricultural subjects according to their abilities so that they could contribute effectively towards ensuring future food security.

He said that major agricultural disciplines including Plant Breeding, Agronomy, Entomology, Soil Science, Plant Pathology, Food Science, Biotechnology, Animal Sciences, Microbiology and Forestry, played vital role in agricultural development.

He further said that modern trends demanded practical research to ensure food self-sufficiency and reduce the country’s heavy food import bills.

Director Horticulture Dr Ahmad Sattar, Director CAB Dr Bushra Sadia, Chairman Entomology Dr Waseem Akram, Chairman Plant Pathology Dr Abdul Rehman, Chairman Forestry Dr Fahad Rasheed, Dr Shakeel, Dr Fawad, Dr Amjad Ali, Dr Amir Shakeel, Dr Ashfaq Wahid, Dr Nadeem Abbas and Dr Ahsan also spoke on the occasion.
