RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Apr, 2026) The Commissioner Rawalpindi, Engineer Amir Khattak, on Wednesday directed authorities to ensure the timely completion of all ongoing beautification projects across the division without compromising on quality standards.
He was chairing a review meeting on development and beautification schemes in Rawalpindi Division, which was attended by Additional Commissioner Coordination Zainia Humayun, Director Development Syed Nazzarat Ali, DG Punjab Horticulture Authority Ahmad Hassan Ranjha, Chief Officer Municipal Corporation Imran Ali, and heads of relevant departments. Deputy Commissioners of Attock, Jhelum, Murree, and Chakwal also joined the meeting through video link, along with their teams.
The meeting reviewed in detail the progress of 17 beautification schemes being executed across the division.
Officials briefed that in Attock, two schemes are underway, while Chakwal and Murree have four schemes each, Jhelum has four, and Rawalpindi district has five ongoing projects.
According to the briefing, the Main Bazaar Attock beautification project has reached 49 percent completion, while the Serai Pajja Sahib access road project stands at 40 percent.
In Chakwal, the Chappar Bazaar and Main Talagang Bazaar projects have been completed up to 70 percent, while the Main Bazaar Jhelum upgradation project has recorded 22 percent progress.
In Murree, the Baryan Bazaar beautification project has reached 76 percent completion, officials added.
In Rawalpindi, the Raja Bazaar project is 68 percent complete, the Commercial Market 67 percent, and the KRL Road project 82 percent completed, the meeting was informed.
Commissioner Amir Khattak said the objective of beautification projects was to provide citizens with a clean, attractive, and organized urban environment.
He directed district administrations to focus on sanitation, plantation drives, restoration of street lights, wall painting, and removal of encroachments in their respective areas.
He further instructed that markets, public spaces, and major roads should be upgraded in line with modern urban standards.
The commissioner stressed daily monitoring of all projects and immediate resolution of any bottlenecks to avoid delays.
He said public facilitation and urban beautification remained a top priority of the government, and all available resources would be utilized to achieve these objectives.
