Administration announces zero tolerance against petrol hoarding

KHANEWAL, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Mar, 2026) The district administration has announced a zero-tolerance policy against artificial shortages and overcharging of petrol and diesel across the district.

The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Maliha Rashid, where it was decided that immediate inspections of petrol pumps would be carried out throughout the district.

The meeting reviewed the availability of petroleum products, price control measures, and beautification initiatives ahead of Eid. The Deputy Commissioner directed Assistant Commissioners to take strict action against petrol pump owners involved in artificial shortages or hoarding.

She instructed that violators could face fines of up to Rs1 million and the sealing of their petrol pumps if found responsible for creating artificial shortages or overcharging customers.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner General Ghulam Mustafa Siyal, Assistant Commissioners, and other concerned officers.

Deputy Commissioner Maliha Rashid further stated that the Petroleum Dealers Association would also be taken on board to ensure that there are no disruptions in the supply of petrol in the district.

She clarified that there is currently no shortage of petrol or diesel in the district, but precautionary steps are necessary to prevent any possible issues.

The meeting also directed the Price Control Magistrates and other enforcement teams to increase field inspections to ensure the sale of essential food items at officially notified prices.
