Additional IG Karachi visits route of 8th Muharram mourning procession

KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Jun, 2026) Additional Inspector General of Karachi Police Azad Khan visited the route of the main mourning procession of 8th Muharram-ul-haram and reviewed security arrangements here on Wednesday.

The main mourning procession of 8th Muharram-ul-haram that emerged from the Nishter Park is passing through the traditional routes to end at Hussainiyan Iranian Imam Bargah Kharadar.

Azad Khan was briefed regarding the main mourning procession security and deployment at Numaish Chowrangi, said a spokesperson of the police.

He inspected the security measures along the main mourning procession route as well as the surrounding areas.

The Additional IG Karachi police directed the officials concerned to implement the security plan strictly. All officers should remain in the field, and any negligence will not be tolerated, he said.

He also directed to employ all available resources to maintain law and order during the Muharram-ul-haram. Karachi Police is fully active to ensure the security of Muharram processions and majalis, he said.

Azad Khan also said that a comprehensive security plan is implemented to protect Citizens' lives and properties.
