Activity in Lahore cattle markets reaches climax

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th May, 2026) Lahore’s cattle markets on Sunday witnessed an unprecedented peak in activity as Eid-ul-Adha approaches. With one permanent and five temporary livestock bazaars set up across the city, while buyers are heavily thronging the grounds to finalize their qurbani purchases.

One permanent and five temporary livestock markets have been activated in the city, where arrangements have been completed for the purchase and sale of sacrificial animals.

While beautiful bulls and goats have become the center of attention for citizens, children are also showing an increasing interest in seeing and buying camels.

The temporary livestock market in Sagian has also become fully functional and here sheep, goats, bulls and camels of different breeds are attracting the attention of buyers.

In Shahpur Kanjran cattle market, traders coming to the market are looking optimistic; they say that till a few days ago, buying and selling was slow, however now with Eid approaching fast, the number of customers is continuously increasing, and the purchase of animals of different breeds is continuing rapidly and citizens are busy finding animals according to their choice and budget.

Traders are hopeful of further improvement in business before Eid, while buyers are continuously flocking to the livestock market in search of fair prices and quality animals. According to sources, the rates of animals are particularly high this year.

The price of a camel is starting from Rs 400,000, while bulls are available for at least Rs 250,000. Similarly, the price of a goat is starting from Rs 100,000, while the price of a sheep is being reported to be up to Rs 80,000.

Interestingly, despite the abundant availability of animals in the markets, the number of buyers has also been increasing. According to the Punjab Cattle Market Management and Development Company, comprehensive arrangements have been made in all the markets for the convenience of citizens, including awareness flexes for guidance, PERA force for security and deployment of Punjab Police personnel.

According to the administration, the Sagian cattle market will remain fully functional on all three days of Eid so that citizens can easily buy sacrificial animals.
