ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Jun, 2026) Civil society activists in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir have voiced concern over what they describe as escalating repression in the territory, saying Indian authorities have intensified cordon-and-search operations, raids and arbitrary detentions, further restricting the rights and freedoms of Kashmiris.
According to Kashmir Media Service, activists in media interviews in Srinagar said that Kashmiris face daily cordons, raids, searches and repression, while extrajudicial killings, custodial torture and arbitrary detentions have become a regular feature.
They said Indian authorities routinely invoke draconian laws to prolong the detention of Kashmiris and that property seizures are being used as a tool to intimidate and silence the population.

They added that the Modi regime has transformed IIOJK into a heavily militarized territory where basic rights remain under severe restrictions.
“Modi and his henchmen must know repression cannot extinguish the aspirations of the Kashmiri people,” the activists said.
They stressed that despite mounting challenges, Kashmiris remain steadfast in their pursuit of freedom. Calling for international intervention, they urged the international community to come forward in a big way to rescue the beleaguered people in IIOJK.
