ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Apr, 2026) A total of 48 beggars were arrested in a recent crackdown in Islamabad as the district administration carried out operations in at least five sectors, including Blue Area, F-6, F-7, E-11 and nearby localities.
The action was taken on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, who also asked citizens to report such activities through a control room number.
The district administration launched a campaign against professional begging in different parts of the Federal capital. Officials said the operations were conducted in areas with high public movement to check the presence of organized beggars.
According to details, the team led by Assistant Commissioner City arrested 34 individuals during operations in Blue Area, F-6 and F-7. All of them were shifted to police lock-ups for further process. Officials said these areas were selected due to repeated public complaints about begging activities.
In a separate operation, Assistant Commissioner Shalimar took action and arrested 14 professional beggars. They were also moved to custody after being detained during checks in assigned areas.
Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner Saddar conducted operations in E-11 and surrounding sectors.
The administration said monitoring is being continued in these areas to prevent the return of beggars.
Officials stated that the campaign is part of an ongoing effort to control professional begging in the city. They added that such activities often involve networks that move between different locations, making regular action necessary.
The Deputy Commissioner Islamabad appealed to the public to support the campaign. Citizens were asked not to encourage professional beggars and to report their presence to the authorities. The administration said public cooperation is important to make the campaign effective.
Residents can inform the district administration about beggars through the control room number 051-9108084. Officials said that information provided by citizens will help teams take timely action.
The district administration has indicated that similar operations will continue in other sectors as well. More teams may be deployed to expand the campaign and ensure wider coverage across the city.
Authorities said the aim is to reduce street begging and maintain order in public areas. They added that strict action will be taken against those found involved in organized begging activities in the federal capital.
