Accused who burnt sister-in-law to death arrested in Abbottabad

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Jun, 2026) Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested the suspect accused of setting his sister-in-law on fire in the jurisdiction of Lora Police Station in Abbottabad district on June 19, last.

According to police, the suspect, identified as Adil, allegedly poured petrol on his 31-year-old sister-in-law and set her ablaze. The victim sustained critical burn injuries and was rushed to a hospital for treatment.

Despite medical efforts, the woman succumbed to her injuries during treatment, triggering grief and concern in the local community.

Police said during the treatment, the victim recorded a video statement in which she named her brother-in-law, Adil, as the person responsible for the attack.

Acting on the victim’s statement and other available evidence, Lora Police launched an investigation and arrested the suspect. A case has been registered and further investigations are underway.

Police said that all aspects of the incident are being thoroughly examined to establish the facts and ensure that legal proceedings are completed in accordance with the law.
