Accused in rape case allegedly dies by suicide during police raid

VEHARI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Apr, 2026) A man wanted in a rape case involving a mentally challenged woman allegedly shot himself dead to avoid arrest in the limits of Karam Pur police station,here on Saturday.

According to police spokesperson,the accused,identified as Abid Hussain was wanted in a case of sexual assault on a 22-year-old mentally challenged woman.

A police team raided an under-construction building in Mauza Zor Kot,where the suspect was hiding.

Despite repeated warnings to surrender,the accused refused and allegedly opened fire on himself,ending his life on the spot.

SHO Karam Pur Malik Zaman Liaquat reached the scene and took the body into custody.

Legal formalities was underway and the body will be handed over to the heirs after completion of procedures.
