AC visits vegetable market, warns against hoarding and overpricing

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Mar, 2026) Assistant Commissioner (AC) Dr. Zulqarnain on Monday conducted visit to Sabzi Mandi Sadhar and reviewed the auction process of fruits and vegetables.

He directed officials of market committee to ensure complete transparency in price determination to prevent artificial inflation. He personally monitored the auction proceedings and observed various stages of the bidding process. He examined how rates were being set and assessed whether the mechanism was functioning in accordance with prescribed rules and regulations.

He instructed Market Committee officers to ensure auction process with full transparency so that commodities could be supplied to retailers and consumers strictly in line with the officially approved rate list.

He emphasized that transparent auctions are imperative to maintain price stability and protect consumers from exploitation.

He also interacted with commission agents and traders at the market and made it clear that hoarding, artificial price hikes and violations of government-fixed rates would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He warned that strict legal action would be initiated immediately against those found involved in overcharging or manipulating prices.

He directed the Market Committee to maintain continuous monitoring of daily auctions and report any irregularities without delay.

Proactive inspections and strict enforcement measures would continue to ensure consumers’ relief in accordance with government policies, he added.
