AC urges scholars to promote unity, cleanliness during Eid-ul-Azha

ATTOCK, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th May, 2026) Assistant Commissioner (AC) Attock, Muhammad Arif Qureshi on Monday urged religious scholars and spiritual leaders to use mosques and pulpits during Eid-ul-Adha to promote the message of brotherhood, unity, love and religious harmony, while calling on citizens to ensure cleanliness and proper disposal of sacrificial waste.

He was addressing a meeting to review arrangements for Eid-ul-Adha.

Qureshi said citizens should avoid throwing animal remains and garbage on roads and public places after performing sacrifices and instead demonstrate civic responsibility by helping keep the city clean under the Punjab government’s “Clean Punjab” initiative .

He said maintaining a clean and organized environment during Eid was a shared responsibility of both the administration and the public, adding that district administration teams and relevant departments were working round the clock to carry out timely cleanliness operations across the district.

The meeting was attended by SHO Sadar Circle, Taimoor Khan, religious scholars and leaders from different schools of thought, including Allama Mufti Ameer Zaman, Maulana Sher Zaman, President Imam Bargah Panjtani Syed Raza Naqvi, Secretary General Athar Hasnain Zaidi, President Anjuman Hussainia Khoori Sardar Muhammad Iqbal, Lala Farooq, Riaz Hussain Shah and Daniyal Daud, as well as representatives of sensitive agencies.

Addressing participants, Qureshi said the country currently needed unity, solidarity and interfaith harmony, adding that the nation stood firmly against terrorism and anti-state elements.

He praised the Pakistan Army and police for their efforts in safeguarding national security and urged the religious leaders to cooperate fully with district authorities and law enforcement agencies regarding security arrangements during Eid.

He also called for the deployment of volunteers, the use of metal detectors and strict checking procedures to prevent any untoward incidents.

Qureshi expressed hope that people from all schools of thought would rise above differences and set an example of peace, tolerance, brotherhood and mutual respect during Eid-ul-Adha.
