AC Kohat tightens grip on profiteers; Ramazan Dastarkhwans bring relief across Kohat

KOHAT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Feb, 2026) Acting on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner, the Assistant Commissioner (AC) Kohat on Thursday conducted a comprehensive inspection of the Sasta Bazaar, reviewing the complaint desk, staff attendance and the availability of essential commodities. During the visit, the AC interacted directly with citizens and examined the implementation of official price lists; moreover, he stressed that transparency and accountability were vital to ensuring public relief. The exercise was carried out in a systematic and vigilant manner, reflecting the administration’s resolve to maintain order in the market.

During the inspection, vendors found overcharging were penalized; consequently, the excess amount was returned to consumers immediately. Legal proceedings were initiated against shopkeepers violating price regulations or failing to display the official rate list.

Furthermore, officials warned that profiteering would not be tolerated under any circumstances. In a separate drive, AAC-II visited KDA Gate Nos. 1, 2 and 3, where an extensive price check was conducted and several violators were fined strictly for ignoring government-notified rates.

Meanwhile, on the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner, a Ramazan Dastarkhwan was arranged at the Women and Children Park in Kohat to facilitate fasting citizens. The Assistant Commissioner attended the first Iftar and reviewed the arrangements personally, expressing satisfaction over the efficient and timely provision of quality food. He appreciated the efforts of Karwan-e-Amal, stating that such welfare initiatives during the holy month were not only commendable but also a valuable service to deserving segments of society.

Similarly, the Social Welfare Department Kohat organized another Ramazan Dastarkhwan at Khushal Garh, where more than 60 travelers and fasting individuals were served dates, fruits, samosas, pakoras, rice and chicken. In addition, the district administration reiterated its commitment to providing maximum relief to the public; therefore, it pledged to continue market monitoring and welfare support throughout Ramazan. Thus, officials affirmed that efforts to curb profiteering and expand relief measures would proceed steadfastly in the days ahead.
