Abductee recovered, woman involved in Rs1m ransom case arrested

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th May, 2026) Ghulam Muhammad Abad police have rescued an abducted citizen and arrested a woman allegedly involved in an abduction-for-ransom case Rs.1 million while raids were underway to arrest her absconding accomplices.

Police spokesman said that the accused woman identified as Najma Bibi was arrested during a targeted operation conducted by the police in connection with abduction for ransom case.

He said that a citizen namely Abdul Rehman was allegedly lured by the woman and taken along with her, after which her accomplices arrived and abducted him.

The accused reportedly shifted the victim to a house near Makkoana and demanded Rs1 million ransom for his release.

The kidnappers later negotiated with the victim’s brother and settled the ransom demand at Rs500,000.

Meanwhile, the victim’s brother informed the police about the incident.

Acting promptly, SHO Ghulam Muhammad Abad police station Inspector Muhammad Yousaf Shehzad utilized technical and investigative resources to trace the accused and successfully arrested Najma Bibi in addition to ensuring safe recovery of the abducted citizen.

Other accomplices involved in the abduction had managed to escape before the raid. However, efforts were continuing to arrest them at the earliest.

A case has also been registered against the accused while further legal proceedings were underway, police spokesman added.
