ABBOTTABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Jul, 2026) Additional Sessions Court has sentenced two men to life imprisonment in connection with the 2017 fatal shooting of a passerby during an armed clash between two rival groups at Benazir Shaheed Teaching Hospital, Abbottabad.
According to the prosecution, the incident occurred in September 2017 when an argument over vehicle parking escalated into a gunfight in the hospital parking area after medical examinations in the emergency department. During the exchange of fire, Azhar and Asim, residents of Sillhad, sustained injuries.
A passerby, Manzoor, a resident of Sherwan, was also hit by gunfire, while Rafaqat, a resident of Namli Maira, suffered critical injuries and later died.
The accused, Zareeb and Qaiser, fled the hospital in a vehicle after the shooting.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>They later abandoned the vehicle at Seena Laboratory Chowk before escaping. Police recovered the vehicle and registered FIR No. 912 under Sections 302 (murder) and 324 (attempted murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
During the trial, the prosecution presented its challan before the court. Statements of 19 out of 35 prosecution witnesses were recorded, and the court found that the prosecution had successfully established its case.
After hearing arguments from both sides, the Additional Sessions Judge convicted both accused and sentenced them to life imprisonment.
The complainant was represented by Senior Advocate Atif Ali Jadoon, assisted by Advocate Sardar Abdul Wahab.
