ABBOTTABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jul, 2026) With heavy monsoon rains continuing across the region, the District Administration Abbottabad has intensified its flood preparedness measures by inspecting vulnerable locations and directing all concerned departments to remain on high alert to protect lives, property, and critical infrastructure.
The Deputy Commissioner conducted a detailed inspection of flood-prone areas to review preparedness for the ongoing monsoon season. The visit was attended by representatives of the National Highway Authority (NHA), Water and Sanitation Services Company Abbottabad (WSSCA), Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) Abbottabad, Local Government Department, Roads and Drainage Department (R&DD), Irrigation Department, Rescue 1122, Civil Defence, Cantonment board, Traffic Police, the Assistant Commissioner Headquarters, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Relief and Human Rights), the District Reconciliation Committee (DRC), and other relevant agencies.
During the inspection, the Deputy Commissioner directed all departments to ensure the availability, installation, and operational readiness of dewatering pumps at low-lying areas and other flood-prone locations to facilitate the immediate drainage of rainwater during heavy downpours.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>He also ordered the cleaning of natural streams and drainage channels, removal of encroachments obstructing water flow, availability of emergency machinery, activation of the Quick Response Force, implementation of alternative traffic management plans, and enhanced coordination among all concerned departments to ensure an effective response to any emergency.
Deputy Commissioner Sarmad Saleem Akram reaffirmed that the district administration is utilizing all available resources to protect lives and property during the monsoon season. He emphasized that timely emergency response, effective flood management, and strong inter-agency coordination remain the administration’s top priorities to minimize the impact of heavy rainfall and ensure public safety.
