Abbasi meets DG NTC, discuss digital transformation of Pakistan Railways

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th May, 2026) Federal Minister for Railways, Muhammad Hanif Abbasi on Tuesday met with Director General of the National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC), Major General (R) Ali Farhan here and discussed promotion of modern technology and digital connectivity in Pakistan Railways.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on various matters relating to the upgradation of communication systems, enhancement of digital coordination and strengthening of institutional cooperation between the two organizations.

Speaking on the occasion, Hanif Abbasi said that adoption of modern technology and an effective communication network were essential for transforming Pakistan Railways along modern lines and providing better travel facilities to passengers.

He said coordinated cooperation among national institutions could help make the railways system more efficient and technologically advanced.

The minister emphasized the government’s commitment to modernization of the railway sector through digital reforms and improved operational systems.

Ali Farhan reaffirmed his organization’s commitment to extending full technical support to Pakistan Railways.

He said the NTC would continue to play its role in providing modern communication infrastructure and digital facilities.

The meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere, with both sides agreeing to further enhance mutual cooperation and undertake joint initiatives in the field of modern technology.
