9th Muharram procession ends peacefully in ICT; officials remain on duty until conclusion

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Jun, 2026) The central 9th Muharram procession concluded peacefully in the Federal capital, with deputy commissioners, assistant commissioners, police officers, and field staff remaining deployed from the start of the event until its completion.

Authorities also announced that roads closed for the procession would be reopened shortly after its conclusion.

The central procession of 9th Muharram-ul-Haram ended without any reported incident in Islamabad on Thursday. Administrative and law enforcement officials remained present along the procession route throughout the day to oversee arrangements and ensure the smooth movement of participants.

According to the district administration, the Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad, along with all assistant commissioners, monitored the procession from its departure point until its conclusion. Officials remained in the field to coordinate security, traffic management, and other administrative measures.

Following the completion of the procession, the Deputy Commissioner thanked officers and staff members for their services during the event. Their efforts contributed to maintaining order and facilitating the movement of mourners along the designated route.

The Deputy Commissioner and the Inspector General of Islamabad Police also commended officials for carrying out their responsibilities during the procession.
